Klapto Computer Game Italo Disco 1983 MAGIC

Refreshed Links

Valter Fausto Bassani released three italo disco records under the moniker Klapto.  He also used other aliases with Meccano being the most well known.

1983 was the best year in history of Italo Disco

The first and probably the most infectious was Mister Game in 1983.

Queen of the Night was their follow-up in 1984.

It may be the end of summer but for Sabrina it will always be Summertime Love

Italian showgirl Sabrina Salerno had a huge hit all over Europe with her Single Boys (Summertime Love). The video is iconic and it was one of the last of the massive Italo Disco hits.
Boys even made it to #3 on the U.K. pop charts and was more succesful than her third single in which she worked with Stock, Aitken & Waterman.

Dedicated to KOTO an essential Italo Disco artist if there ever was one

Koto has left the stage. So I'm going to spoil you with more Koto then you ever thought existed.
Koto was quite the special Italo Disco artist. In fact his crossover appeal was such that Japanese War Game was even a favorite at the legendary Paradise Garage.
Koto was very experimental and prolific. He wasn't afraid to dip his hands into many pots. As you can see he even did plenty of covers.
One thing I do know is that I appreciated him and I'll bet you did too!
As per usual my download links are going to be in the messages section below. I no longer know how to keep my links live in my posts directly.

This Italo Disco Classic was actually a #1 pop hit in 1986, Diamond by Via Verde

What a classic of the genre. Massive!
The zip even includes a live version from Azzuro in 1986
I've probably already blogged this gem before. I've been writing this blog so long I'm losing track of what I've written about. Look in the comments section for the link.

Italo Disco greats The Creatures, Maurizio Sangineto

Maurizio Sangineto based out of the beautiful northern Italian city of Vincenza made some Italo Disco magic back in the early 80's from involvement with Firefly and The Armed Gang to his productions for Passengers, Amanda Lear, The Creatures and Valery Alington. All great material!
Though I have posted about Believe in Yourself, one of my very favorite Italo Disco tracks here I will provide you with two albums by The Creatures 1983's Believe in Yourself and 1985's Illusion. Quite prolific there is other great Creatures material to collect.
As usual until I figure out how blogspot has changed it's format I'll be putting the links in the comment section. But who cares as long as you can get your hands on them!

Mas Mix Quen Nunca Italo Disco Classics from Memory Records

One of the best megamix ever made! ...Considering the equipment available in 1986. Mike Platinas and Javier Ussía after leaving Max Music, went to Italy to record an album with Memory Records, using songs of their catalog, all of them italo-disco tracks. This megamix was taken from the Spanish record shops being only available via import. It sold 35.000 copies before it appeared, and without any promo! Today is a hard-to-get album. You will recognize the following artists in the mixes : Brian Ice - Talking To The Night Duke Lake - Dance Tonight Roy - Destiny Time Cyber People - Void Vision Baby's Gang - Challanger Koto - Visitors Baby's Gang - Happy Song (Remix) J.D. I Know Magica

So on a lark I did search in iTunes podcasts with the term "italo disco" and I came upon a podcast called The Breakfast Club.  Not all of the selections they had were italo disco mixes, they also have other genres and dedications to particular producers like Stock, Aitken and Waterman and Nile Rodgers.

SWEDISH PODCAST THE BREAKFAST CLUB

I found all of their italo disco selections great.  A few I hadn't heard before.  All of them were a pleasant surprise.  This song though I Know Magica by Magika from 1985 on Italy's Time Records had to be my favorite.

It turns out I did already have it on one of my external hd's and I've been listening to it on repeat for a while now.

I KNOW MAGICA

Like many italo disco tracks it was a one-off.  Of course there are names on it that you see on many italo disco productions.  For example Giacomo Maiolini.
He also brought us Danny Keith, Radiogram, Miko Mission and Silver Pozzoli to name a few.

Then we have Mario Natale who worked on Dan Harrow, Paul Sharada, Tom Hooker, Bravo, Silver Pozzoli and others.

There is also C. Cattafesta, G. Caria and S. Oliva.  I'm not going to list artists for them.  But you get the picture.  In Italo Disco we have many names and artists but they often are working on each others records.  The same artist using many different monikers, or even a variety of made up names.

ITALO DISCO PERFECTION CYBERNETIC LOVE BY CASCO

Refreshed Links
Casco means helmet in Italian and Casco is Salvatore Cusato.  An Italian DJ and producer who passed in 2011.

Cybernetic Love the 1983 release on House of Music records came during the big boom of Italo Disco and it's cheery, spacey, vocoder perfection symbolizes all that's best of the Italo Disco sound.
CASCO A CASCO ZIP

Interestingly the 1986 follow-up Son of my Father was a Giorgio Moroder remake and lacked any of the magic of the first release.  It is in fact not even a collectible like Cybernetic Love and can be picked up for a song.
