DOGS OF WAR ULTRA RARE SPACE DISCO FROM 1977

 Great post warranted being brought back up to the top again.
To know me is to know I love my space disco. This classic of the genre from 1977 was produced and arranged by Pat Deserio (an Italian producer based out of Montreal, Canada) whom we know for his work with Gaye Evans, Bob-A-Rela, Nitelite, Kebekelektrik and The Bombers among other things.

The Crazy Kitsch of Nancy Nova

British born singer/actress Nancy Nova had her first release with No Way in 1978. Later that year she also recorded the theme song for an Italian t.v. show Akiri Non Stop and even appeared in a few episodes. It's follow-up Heaven was her debut into the Electronic spacey disco style in her super high pitched warble.



But she is best known for 198l's disco camp new wave classic The Force in which she sings in a demented voice and says the silliest things. But believe me it's incredibly catchy. Two listens and you're hooked! How I wish they had made a video for it. Nevertheless it became a gay disco classic as gays tend to appreciate and embrace the off-kilter more willingly.

She was meant to be part of Total Coelo but previous commitments kept her from joining this new wave kitsch classic group who were best known for I Eat Canibals. Fortunately there was a video for Made in Japan, released in 1982. It doesn't disappoint.

1982's No No No is not quite as danceable but continues to work her sound. It also features a brilliant 45' sleeve.

Her last single was Lifeline from 1983. I've never heard it nor do I know which style she was working at that point.

This zip contains the remarkable gay disco classic The Force and No, No, No. In 2004 a cd was released entitled The Force on FX records U.K. and includes all of her notable successes except for the more obscure Akiri Non Stop which you can enjoy in it's video form at least.



She now lives a quiet life on her farm in Devon, U.K. where still she still writes songs.

I AM THE ULTIMATE WARLORD and AMERICAN FADE

A space disco favorite of mine is definitely Ultimate Warlord by The Immortals.  This Canadian record is just all out odd. I AM THE ULTIMATE DOWNLOAD

Produced by Willi Morrison and Ian Guenther it originally came out on RCA Canada in 1979.  But became much better known in 1981 when San Francisco label Moby Dick licensed it and did remixes.  It quickly became a classic at The Trocadero Transfer in San Francisco spun regularly by Bobby Vitteritti and it was also big at The Saint in the East Village New York City.    Remix

The Immortals had no other releases but Willi Morrison had other great Hi NRG projects like American Fade who had a major smash with I'm Alive download it.  Then there was also the superb Grand Tour with the classic Flight from Versailles. Will was responsible for THP, Sticky Fingers, Southern Exposure and even the Skatt Brothers WALK THE NIGHT and the Duncan Sisters too.  Willi Morrison had a successful disco career alright! Ian Guenther was partially responsible for most of those projects too but certainly seems less prolific at least as far as Discogs.com is concerned.  

Arpadys rare French Space Disco Magic

If there is another thing I love as much as italo disco it's spacey disco.  The one and only release in 1977 by French act Arpadys is a classic of the genre.  I sold my copy years ago on Ebay for about $200.00.  It continues to be a collectible though it has been re-issued (as a bootleg) which often screws up bidding on the original because bidders are afraid that the re-issue is being passed off as the original.
