K.B. Caps Do you really need me?

Freshened Links
do you really need me
K.B. Caps is the alias for Cay Hume.  His first maxi single on XYZ records was released in 1986.  Do you really need me? is definitely considered an italo disco classic.  The zip below contains many versions including remixes and a more current take on the gem.  For a German record it certainly captures the spirit of italo disco.

1986 was pretty late in the italo disco era.  In fact there were less and less releases by then.  Germany's ZYX came to the rescue and kept the genre going with this record.

Gary Langan remixer, audio engineer extraordinaire ABSOLUTE (version) Scritti Politti

British audio engineer and record producer Gary Langan is most responsible for the majesty of this remix.  This version of the Scritti Politti classic Absolute called (version) is the definitive one.  The sound is crisp and simply a synth eruption.  ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL

It's not often on Disco Vinyl that I choose to honor a person that is not the artist but in the case of Gary Langan it's not exactly the case.  He was after all a member of the seminal synthy alternative dance band The Art of Noise.  There are quite a few Art of Noise gems that are also worth honoring in a big way.

The double A side of Close (to the edit) with it's remarkable video and Beat Box come to mind first.  There were many others.  There were even a few I didn't like at all, to be honest.

BEN LIEBRAND MAKES POUSSEZ! EVEN SEXIER

Dutch DJ, Producer and Mastermixer really did some magic on an older disco tune in 1986.  His mix of Poussez's 1980 disco hit Come on and Do It was memorable and many years before the disco edit craze we've been experiencing since the millenium.

BEN LIEBRAND REMIX OF POUSSEZ

Poussez was like a super-group featuring Alphonse Mouzon and Janet Wright and Connie Harvey and Christine Wiltshire to name a few.  In 1979 and 1980 they had a series of major disco hits.  Boogie with Me and Come on and Do it were the most successful.

POUSSEZ! A fabulous Roy Thode remix.
